Another rant on Feminism, maybe?

I remember when I first heard about this term. I didn’t knew what it meant so I googled it.

“Feminism is a range of political movements, ideologies, and social movements that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social equality of sexes. ” – that’s the definition you will get in the first link. It was established to achieve equality of sexes or both sex not just females as it is considered to be believed today.

Surprisingly, very few people know the exact definition of feminism inspite of it being the most common trend in today’s world. But it’s not really surprising because we humans have a tendency to mold things the way we want them to be and not see it as they are.

For what it was, this was started to empower women to be equal to men to give them equal rights, equal opportunities and equal freedom. But has it made any significance change?

What I see around me is still a male dominant world or better to say society dominant world where not just men rule but women ourselves help them be the king to our society.

I see one women berating the other women to be less than any men whether it’s our mothers, sisters, relative or just a neighborhood aunty.

I see a mother telling her daughter that something is wrong with them if you want to have sex. What they teach is sex is a sin for women.

Then why does sex becomes so important after marriage when you want your kids to have kids of their own then suddenly all these women are giving advises on how to Be a good wife and satisfy your husband. Why does these definitions change for us according to my marital status? Why is sex still not a sin for every women after her marriage? And it’s always a necessity for every male whether married or unmarried as far as they get to cheat on their partners in the name of being “not satisfied”.

This is one scenario which has always been a taboo for years and will be for God knows how long. But is it fair for a mother to tell her child to cut her hair so no boy can lust at her? How does my long hair attract male attention that’s how close it is as attractive to someone as breathing is!

No mom! My long hair is not a problem, the problem lies within you. The problem lies within every guy who rapes a girl. The problem lies within every society which thinks working late at night, wearing shorts clothes, expressing yourself on social media, going to a male friends house is not what a good girl should do! The problem lies within every person and their thinking. That problem lies within you too mom which forces you to judge every other girl, even your own daughter.

Today when I went online I saw a picture, a picture of a beautiful free soul which I have always admired for being free. But what I saw next probably is the reason that I don’t see such souls anymore. All I saw on her pictures were comments of being a randi, attention seeker, someone who degrades the feminism and some even as far as “thank god, I don’t have a daughter”. Mam thank god that God never gave you a daughter because if he had; you would have murdered her soul along ago! As for what her these comments are for, is because she posted a seminude picture with just her undergarments to protect her image. All I did see today was a war very similar to the one engaged decades ago for women rights, the difference was just that the dates have shifted the methods have shifted but deep down we are still way too backward to accept a women for all her glory.

In all these years the women have indeed been able to emerge in every field but we still fail to achieve our basic rights, the right to express, the right to demand, the right to freedom, the right to equality; and without any of these the feminism is always going to be misheard and misunderstood.

Someone had said “the repression of feminism has led to the decline of this planet, the re-emergence is going to be a dance to behold.”

It indeed will be…

For all the lost dreams

For most of us childhood is a happy innocent place to be in. And why shouldn’t it be?? Isn’t it the best time of our lives? Having no worries, being treated with love, happiness is all what we know in those days. Yeah we do get sad, angry and cry but those things don’t matter as much as those happy moments. Because all we remember when we grow up are those impressions of happiness that our parents fought so hard to give us.

That’s what most of our childhood look like.

Someone’s better someone’s a bit worse. But how far does this perseption actually go?? There are countless cases of child abuse and child labour every year!! Then where are these children ?? Aren’t they amongst us, just like you and me trying to live their lives? Have You ever noticed someone closely have you ever thought of one of your friend as being a victim of abuse. Mostly no! that’s what crime reporting serials are for but we never consider that possible in reality around us.

We never notice the most silent guy in our class who may or may not be a victim maybe just a depressed kid. Even the most popular people are sumtimes depressed and seeking companionship Is their way of coping up.

Every life has a new story. Child abuse is not always physical most of the cases are psychological.

Have you ever thought why people becomes depressed ? In most of the cases depression occurs significantly because of some childhood abuse or insecurities which never got erased and are so much a part of us that we can’t differentiate them with our feelings.
Why I started this topic?

Because of a simple story. A story of my friend who was not so lucky with his childhood.

After listening to his story I finally realised that how lucky I am to actually have such a normal childhood. It’s cliche isn’t it? To realise something that actually has been in front of you the whole time after listening to one bad story. That’s not just me that’s human nature. We never really appreciate something we already have till someone points it out to us. That’s how we are always trying to gain more things, never being thankful for what we already have. But

Is it just one story ?

Aren’t there hundreds and thousands and even millions of children living a bad childhood right now.

Some are them are  victims of war who have been displaced from their homes

some lost their parents due to those wars

some have been orphaned because of blasts

some are victims of domestic abuse

some due to bad parenting,

 some are bullied,

some have lost their way to drugs and alcohol,

some are a part of trafficking,

some are forced to work to earn a living,

some are aborted before they are born, some raped and scarred for life,

some affected by peer pressure,

some have started hanging around in bad company, some depressed,

Aren’t these children a victim in one way or another??

We hear these cases everyday through media but it doesn’t really affects us because it’s far away untangible so it feels unreal and most of us are too busy to bother with anything that doesn’t affect us.

We never even feel sorry unless it becomes personal till then they are just facts which play every day . But when it gets personal it becomes all too real and scary.

I remember a case that I read about a girl that often wore dresses made of potato sacks, for which the local children made fun of her. She was molested by her cousin, uncle, and a family friend, starting when she was nine years old. This was the case of Oprah Winfrey,North America’s first and only multi-billionaire black person. This is just a common case I read about years ago but for some reason it got stuck in my mind.

Maybe because I am a huge fan of her or she is someone I never thought could be a victim in her childhood . It reminded me that at the end we all are humans and it can happen to just about anyone. The very next person could be someone who have been tormented for years but never got the justice or maybe still be a victim of abuse that have crushed their soul  and don’t really understand what’s wrong with them.

What I am trying is not make anybody uncomfortable or guilty for being born in a safe environment or having all those privileges that those kids don’t have and still don’t have and may never have. Their lives start and end the same way unnoticed by everyone. It’s scary to have no meaning of your life to be just unimportant like not existing.

What all I am trying to say is to be kind. Kind to that kid who asks for food, to those who do the hard labour, those blind or deaf kid who have difficulty understanding this world be kind and support. Support just one of them. Maybe it’s not so big for you but it means the world to them.

We often hear people say we can’t choose our colour well for them they can’t choose their lives. Their lives have been destined for them even before their world. For them freedom and freewill never exists.

But for us kindness is an option, being helpful is an option, being sensitive is an option.
There is a place brighter than tomorrow in your heart there are ways to get there and heal the world and make it a better world for me and you and the human race .(lyrics by Michael Jackson: heal the world song)

This blog is inspired and dedicated to a special friend who I think deserves all the happiness in the world and more. He reminds me of a child lost in this world. Be happy , because every being deserves it.

Colourless World

The smell of rain reminds me of fresh beginnings

Every flower blossoms bright and cheerful

The seed grow up and up

Away from its home

Reaching the sky

Trying to catch the sun

The sun shining brighter and brighter

So bright and so beautiful
The sunshine fall on me

Taking away the darkness of the moon

Keeping my fears at bay

But there comes the sunset and the fears

Darkness reminds me of all the things that could go wrong

The moon is out

The wolves howling in joy

The predators out in the night

The nature sat silent and quiet

Listening and watching

Waiting for its prey

It reaches out

Surrounds you till you can’t see can’t breathe

It takes you away In a place far away

The sun shines again

But something is different

What happened last night?

Isn’t it always the question

No one dare speaks

The darkness howles far away

Once again overjoyed

Not even the rain can erase the past

It washes away the cries

Leaving a colourless world behind

Once again to be robbed at night.

Will you ever be mine ?

The moon shining bright in the sky
The sound of thunder send chills to my bones

I lay awake at night

Thinking what is it that makes me miss you more ?

Is it your love or is it me a hopeless romantic ?

Why is it so difficult to understand you ?

Why can’t I just be with you ?

Will it never change ?
I imagine the day you will come to see me

I could be old and grey

Waiting for u in my hopeless romantic way

I will remember the day u went away

It all still in my mind

Keeping me awake at nights

Thinking and thinking

will you ever be mine ?

AAre you one?

From birth to death we always hear people say what is right and what is wrong but do they know what they are talking about?

Isn’t it the same thing they heard from someone else ?

But do those people know what they are talking about?

Does anyone know what is right or wrong?

Can’t it be right for someone and wrong for someone else?

But who are we to judge?

Who are we tell them that they are not good enough ?

Are you good enough?

Maybe you are for someone but are you perfect for everyone?

Can you gurantee what you are saying is the truth?

Did you saw it yourself? What if what you saw is only half of what is true?

Did you hear it yourself? But what if what you heard is not what someone meant or is only the half story?

Did you ever asked yourself what you know is the complete truth?

Did you ever thought what would happen if you didn’t know the truth?

So many what if’s and so many questions.

But the biggest question- Who is a perfect being?

My only answer is EVERYONE.
